Trying on New Clothes

In my dreams I am World Renowned Photographer.

I am beautiful, tall, elegant and statuesque.  The world is my oyster and I am the Pearl of Great Price.  I have Terrence Howard in my bedroom … and I am a World Renowned Photographer.

Then I wake up and I’m plain old Jane with a big nose and a chip on her shoulder.

I won’t give up dreaming though.  With a basic camera, no fancy equipment and limited knowledge, I am making a cautious foray into the world of macro photography.  Thanks to my fairly wild compound, I have quite a collection of photography subjects right outside my door.  I know I have a lot to learn and I need to get into the subjects closer and to give them more detail and depth and I need to respond to the lighting more and sharpen my focus.

I was a little nervous about sharing these photographs on this blog until I read this quote by the late great Ernst Haas,

“There is only you and your camera. The limitations in your photography are in yourself, for what we see is what we are.”

So here goes …

Slept through my agriculture class, so I have no idea what this weed is.  I was misinformed that it was a mustard flower.  Turns out my dad doesn’t know everything.
