Link-a-lot

Was blurfing for news of the Pope’s visit to Cameroon and found a few gems from our friends in West Africa that I highly recommend.

  • Scribbles from the Den” is the blog of a journalist called Dibussi Tande.  The analysis and reporting on it is quite in-depth.  Even with limited knowledge of Cameroonian politics and society, I am able to enjoy it.
  • Mabi’s World” is another journalist-penned blog.  Mabifo writes very well on a range of issues, most media and journalism related.
  • I wish I had found the blog “Cameroon Literature in English” last year when I participated in the Africa Reading Challenge.  The blog hasn’t been updated for a few months, but I found it very useful and current.  Perhaps I was just surprised how much the rest of Africa is publishing and how far behind Uganda is.
  • Our Man in Cameroon” is the token expat blog.  Fortunately it is not one of ‘those’ blogs that make me want to flay myself whenever I read them.  It is great from an outside-in view of Cameroon.

Closer to home, Peregrine has interesting suggestions on how to reorganize Kampala.  Visit his blog here for his dreams of building a subway system in the city.  He’s a great substitute Kampala.ver, whose bloglife was cut short too soon.

On other dreamers , visit ICT for Uganda, a blog by a group of students with great hopes for the country.

My boss, friend and brother has also started blogging.  He needs a little encouragement to really kick off.  Show him some love here, will you?

Do you have any blog links you would like to share?

Happy blurfing!

  2. Thanks for the link (and I’ve added the others to my RSS reader – if they are not already there). Glad I am not enforcing flaying on you – quite honestly the biggest compliment I have ever had.

  3. Glad to see that you’ve picked up both Dibussi and Ourman, two of the best blogs on Cameroon. I used to want to flay myself when I read Steve’s blog, not so much anymore. :)
